Know Your Rights Campaign

What is the Know Your Rights Campaign?

The Know Your Rights campaign serves the public legal education mandate of the African Nova Scotian Justice Initiative (ANSJI) and is a response to recommendation 4.1 of the Wortley Report

With support from provincial and federal government funding, ANSJI has partnered with subject matter experts to deliver public legal education sessions on a variety of topics, including:

  • Criminal law

  • Property law

  • Wills and estates

  • Family law

ANSJI has also partnered with African Nova Scotian Student Support Workers to deliver in-person education to African Nova Scotian students and Black students of African descent in schools across the province to teach them about their rights when interacting with the police.

If your school or organization is interested in hosting a public legal education session, please contact us for more details.
