Objective
To create an infrastructure that oversees the recruitment, training and ongoing support for mental health counsellors and social work professionals carrying out Impact of Race and Culture Assessments™ (IRCAs™), while ensuring adequate treatment and services are available to African Nova Scotians in conflict with the criminal justice system.
Components

Continuing education opportunities for lawyers, members of the judiciary and other professionals that play a role in the assessment and presentation of IRCAs™.

Oversight of the IRCA™ delivery framework.

Policy and strategy development around mental health service delivery for African Nova Scotians, including youth, in conflict with the criminal justice system.

Cultural competency training for mental health professionals working within the criminal justice system.
