The Criminal Law Division provides free legal services to individuals facing criminal matters. Our lawyers represent clients at all levels of court and apply a critical race lens to their advocacy, challenging a system that has historically marginalized and mistreated communities.

 

Our Criminal Law services include:

 

• Providing representation in youth criminal court.

• Assisting you with applications to Nova Scotia Legal Aid.

• Working with your lawyer on race-based issues that may be present in your case.

• Helping connect you connect with the right supports to address underlying issues that led to involvement

• in the system.

• Due to a high volume of inquiries, ANSJI will be temporarily pausing legal services for a short period of time. Individuals are still encouraged to complete our intake form, and non-urgent matters will be added to a waitlist for future review and follow-up.
